This is my submission for the "Memories" challenge of new SUPERGROUP "groupemetalrockpunks"!
This photo has not been touched up in any way, the lighting was seriously amazing.
The first time i baked bread all by myself
I will never forget my first foray into the world of baking - how I stepped into the kitchen, mixed flour, water and yeast together to make something called "biga" and "soaker", put those mystery things away and waited, impatiently, for them to be ready. Sure, i had read about them, but it was a whole different story to actually look at them and feel them. The long time the bread took to make made me buzz with anticipation of the final loaf, i was measuring and mixing and kneading and letting rise, shaping and putting into the pan and finally, finally, baking. The wonderful aroma that wafted through the house lured my sister into the kitchen and we both sat hunched in front of the oven, counting down the time until it was done.
We tore into the loaf as soon as it was cool enough to handle and sat there, quietly munching away. Just the bread by itself, nothing else needed.
After we had demolished half the loaf, we looked at each other and smiled, and i thought how amazing it is that something as simple as flour, water and yeast can bring family together.
